The “Accidental” Teenage Teacher

Had I always been a teacher’s pet? Yes.
Did I ever want to be a teacher myself? No. Never.
It’s funny how a casual living room conversation with my grandmom about teaching, became a living reality for me. My first class at 17 after losing an unlikely bet with her that day, has won me over a decade of the most priceless moments with kids of all ages. Now a proud teacher having taught 700+ young artists, there is nothing else I’d rather be.

Taking a cue from my design school learnings, I believe that to be an artist one must be able to visualize, generate original ideas, have an opinion, invent a style that reflects oneself, and have the willingness to be a changemaker. Being able to draw or paint well is just a bonus.

" Ms. Kunj has been "instrumental" in igniting the love for art in my girls' hearts. My daughters started their art classes with her as 5 year old babies and it's been 7-8 years, and they still look forward to her class with the same amount of enthusiasm as their very first class.

Ms. Kunj is extremely passionate about art and I recall having several "arty" conversations with her as a mother,  which extend beyond the classroom, which further reflects her passion for art.

It wouldn't be too much to say that my girls absolutely love her. "
